As a huge Mario fan, I’m not too familiar with the Paper Mario series. I only got to play the first two entries of the series.

I remember Paper Mario 64 more fondly because it ended up becoming one of my favorite Mario games.

I would love to talk about Paper Mario 64, but that’s for another time!

I uh never got around to finishing the original TTYD. That’s a good thing, though, because Nintendo recently released a remake of TTYD on the Nintendo Switch yayyy woooo!!!! Paper Mario fans are eating good...

So anyway, my preorder for the physical copy was cancelled due to high demand. Awesome. I decided to buy the digital version instead. When my Switch finally finished downloading the remake, it was time to play Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

Let's start with the remake OST for a bit. I felt most of the music didn't click with me. I like the simplicity in the original, whereas there's a lot going on in the remake. It's cool that they added a nostalgia badge for fans who prefer the original. I will say I like how the remake is more dynamic, like each area has a different variation of the battle theme!

The last time I played the original was many years ago, it was difficult to notice any changes in the remake. It felt like I was playing TTYD for the first time again, but a bit more modernized. For my own sanity, I will not be going into every detail of this remake.

The visuals are great in the remake, especially on Switch hardware! Boggly Woods is probably one of my favorite areas in the game. I mean, look at the floor; it's so colorful and shiny. This screenshot doesn't do much justice, but you get what I mean. The remake has a more pop-up storybook kind of look, which makes sense. It’s called Paper Mario, of course.

I don’t have the time to play games during the day, so playing this game before bed kinda helps me fall asleep.

I sometimes have a hard time sleeping at night, so playing something that isn't stressful like Paper Mario puts me to sleep—in a good way! I'm not insinuating that the game is boring or anything. Yeah it has a lot of dialogue than any Mario game, I think. Actually, the writing is what makes this game very charming and fun.
